KJN Denice Challender

Owner/Master Instructor

KJN Denice Challender-Slater, a Reno local, has been training and teaching Martial Arts for over 30 years! Her initial roots are with the West Coast World Martial Arts Association and Great Grand Masters KJN Ernie Reyes, Sr. and KJN Tony Thompson. She has dedicated her life to being a Martial Artist, inside and out. She opened her traveling dojo program, Martial Arts on the Move, in1997 with a goal to provide a safe, fun, and exciting environment for children throughout the community to learn safety and self-defense. Now a 7th degree black belt, KJN Denice has remained adamant in her agenda of protecting children and has expanded her curriculum with an entire Safety School she calls INTUITION to “teach our children to protect themselves, when we are not able to protect them.”

Master Black Belts, Black Belts, & Assistant Instructors

KJN Keith

KJN Keith White

KJN Keith began training back when the dinosaurs were still around! All joking aside, we are so lucky to have him as a KJN in our Studio. We call him our “Elephant” because he remembers EVERYTHING! He has experience in Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan, Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga, and the combat art of Lynxx and continues to train and learn and expand his repertoire.

Craig Niedzielski.jpg

KJN Craig Niedzielski

KJN Craig has left us for a retirement in Florida! We miss him every day, but hope to see him back at our Studio whenever he is in Reno!

KJN Sheree Wesely

KJN Sheree teaches our Tuesday/Thursday morning classes and is truly an extraordinary human! She has a bucket list the size of the Hoover Dam and she never ceases to amaze us with her many adventures!

John Ponzo.jpg

SBN John Ponzo

SBN John Ponzo is a lifelong musician as well as a lifelong Martial Artist! He was one of the original Black Belts under West Coast Reno back in the Tom Callos days! He owns ALL ABOUT MUSIC here in Reno if you are ever in need of some quality musical instruction. He is truly one of the most incredible humans we know (so it’s appropriate he trains in the daytime with KJN Sheree)! We just wish we had the opportunity to see more of him!

SBN Enzo

SBN Enzo has been training for his entire life! Our Martial Arts on the Move footprint logo is actually his footprint. The kids always say he has gigantic feet! Enzo currently holds a third degree black belt and is an incredible instructor and role model for students of all ages.

SBN Enzo

SBN Enzo is our head instructor and teaches alongside his mom, KJN Denice. She couldn’t be more proud of the incredible young man he is!

He is so cool he gets two pics on our website :)

BSBN AJ

BSBN AJ is an old school Black Belt who took a step back to raise his amazing children with his beautiful wife, Brittany. We are so lucky to have him and his family training with us. He is an incredible father and husband, Martial Artist and teammate and even though he works his fingers to the bone to balance it all, he always has a smile and is willing to lend a hand to help us in any and every way. We are so grateful for him and his family’s support.

BSBN AJ still catches massive air with his flying jump side kick, and still snaps with every move he executes! We are hoping to convince him to get our Demo team back up and running! They would be the talk of the town!

BSBN Kyle Wofford

This is our young BSBN Kyle who looks nothing like this anymore, but we love this picture so much it is hard to part with! BSBN Kyle came to us from West Coast Campbell and is now more Reno than some of our natives. His sense of humor keeps us in stitches as do his punches! JK.

CGN Cameron

CGN Cameron is a fan favorite and has been training since he was 4! He is working towards his 2nd degree Black Belt in May ‘26 and kicks higher than a New York Skyscraper! He is a phenomenal Martial Artist, Student, Instructor, and Teammate. We all love and adore him.

CGN Chance

CGN Chance is one of the most dedicated students we have! He not only trains multiple times a week, but he teaches multiple classes while balancing school, family, and like 8 other sports! Lol. He never complains and just continues to run like a Duracell battery. We are so thankful for his loyalty and dedication.

BCGN Hayden

BCGN Hayden is on target to test for Black Belt in May ‘26! He really is the definition of a white belt that never quit! He started training at 4 years old and climbed the belt ladder through tears and perseverance and true fortitude. He has grown so much and is a SPARRING rock star! SBN Enzo says this is his “mini me”.

Myles

Myles is working hard to test for Black Belt before he journeys off to MIT for college! It’s remarkable how much he has grown over the years and is truly a talented Martial Artist. He despises WARRIOR TRAINING at 650am on Saturdays, but we keep hoping he will begin to enjoy those early mornings like we all do! Lol.

Sam

Sam is THE favorite of almost every NINJA (age 3-7) although you wouldn’t know from this very serious pose in his pic. He started at All About Kids Preschool when he was 4 and was just as funny then as he is now! Sam is so much fun to be around and is committed to testing with the rest of our “Next Generation” of Black Belt in May ‘26. He also builds the best tip tape towers if you’re ever wondering where those come from. :)

Oliver

Oliver always has a smile on his face and intensity in his techniques. He began Martial Arts at Caughlin Preschool at age 4 and is testing with the crew in May ‘26 for Black Belt. He is an incredible assistant instructor and truly has that “7th sense” to know what needs to be done around the Studio. His forms are on point, his sparring is fierce, and he is so respectful we are proud to call him ours.

Parker

Parker began at one of our Traveling Dojos and is still going strong working towards his Black Belt with the crew in May ‘26. He is a Sparring champion, picks up anything faster than a heartbeat, but hates to study his life skills (this could be because of his disappearing journal!) He teaches and trains, performs demos with 5 minutes notice and his teammates love him!

Henry

Henry started Martial Arts when he was barely 3 and is still one of the most adorable ninjas we have ever had not to mention one of the fiercest. He has followed in the footsteps of his big brother, CGN Cameron, and continues to balance his Martial Arts training with multiple other sports, school, family, and friends. He couldn’t wait to earn his brown belt so he could attend Warrior Trainings on Saturdays at 650am and I think we even let him train with the advanced belts when he was only a Blue I. He is beyond focused and we all love it when he is in class with us!

Lucy

Lucy is AWESOME! We LOVE when she is at the Studio training and teaching. EVERYONE loves Lucy! Not only is she an awesome Martial Artist, but she is an awesome assistant instructor too! She gives CGN Cameron a run for his money on kicking height and she is always the “pancake” on the mat when she is stretching out (she can lay totally flat in her straddle stretch!) Lucy started at our Mount Rose Traveling Dojo when she was in Kindergarten and has finally passed her sister in rank! She hopes to test for Black Belt with the crew in May ‘26.

Hailey

We call Hailey our future office girl! She can pretty much help with anything around the Studio and is often cleaning and organizing with her amazing family all on her own. She is the sweetest teammate and is so close to earning her Brown Belt. She was one of the only Blue I belts to take the challenge of attending Warrior Training on Saturday morning at 650am when they were invited. We can’t wait to officially hire her. She is going to be a Rock Star employee!

Luis

Luis has been helping out a lot in classes lately and is doing a great job! We hope to get him to Brown Belt very soon and training with the advanced crew! He is the only other Blue I besides Hailey that made it to Warrior Training on a Saturday at 650am! Woot Woot!

Fun Fact: KJN Denice knew Luis when he was in his mom’s tummy! His mom was Enzo and Bebe’s Kindergarten teacher! (Luis hates when we tell this story!)
